If you want to pick berries this year, don’t delay! Berry season is always a short few weeks. We will typically offer at least three days of u-pick per week, rotating between our two fields as the berries ripen. They ripen quickly in warm weather! Watch this Daily Update page. How do the u-picks work?
– New this year, all our u-picks are open to the public (unlike previous years when picking was only for CSA customers.).
– Reservations will be required on some dates (weekends) and probably not on other dates (some weekdays). Always check this page.
– We expect to open for picking three or four days per week, depending on the berries and weather.
– We provide cardboard containers to pick into, and to take your berries home.
– Invite your friends! We hope to accommodate everyone. New this year, we doubled our fields and will have lots of berries.
– Weather permitting, we expect to offer strawberry u-picks through June.
Communication
New this year, all updates and reservations will be posted to this public page. In addition, I will send a few forecasting emails per week to our email list (join at button). I cannot send an email for each day’s update (too much information!), so please bookmark and check this page.
Larger quantities
If you plan to pick 35 lbs or more, please email us in advance. Otherwise, no need to email us in advance.
**Certified Organic or organically grown.
Our farm has been certified organic since 2002. We have two berry fields.
– One field is Certified Organic.
– The other field is organically grown but not quite certifiable yet. It has been managed entirely with organic techniques for the last 11 months but is 1 month shy of the required 12 month waiting period after planting. We couldn’t quite get the plants in the ground on time. Doh! The field itself has been Certified Organic for 25 years.
Sign up for our email list for direct notification.
What’s after strawberries?
In August, we will offer u-pick for Certified Organic plum tomatoes, cut flowers, plus pre-picked garlic and basil.

STRAWBERRY FAQs
Reservations will be required for SOME of the upicks.
It helps keep things calm. Read this page to learn which dates require reservations.. If reservations are required, please do not come to the farm without one.
Payment
PAYMENT IS BY CASH OR CHECK. No credit cards. No Venmo.
Parking
If parking in our yard is full, please park on the north side of our country road (the side toward our farm.) It’s a good idea to get out and check the ditch before pulling off the road, as some of the ditches are steep. Please do not leave your car running when parked on grass. We have found BADLY scorched patches of grass.
What are the hours?
As we determine picking dates, we will update this page with the hours and other details. We set each date’s opening and closing times to match the berries and the weather.
Containers
We will provide cardboard flats for picking and taking your berries home.
Accessibility
Our facilities are not handicap accessible.
Your responsibilities
– Please keep your children with you. There are a variety of dangers on a farm.
– Please supervise your children’s berry picking.
– Come prepared for the weather. Check the forecast before leaving home. Wherever you live, it will hotter/colder/wetter/drier here at the farm.
– We have beehives. Our beekeeper cautions that you should avoid scented products when you visit, especially ones that resemble flowers or food because those may attract the bees. Think about your soap, sunscreen etc.
– Do not bring dogs to the farm.
Can I eat berries in the field?
Feel free to try a few, to learn what ripeness you like.
What do I need to bring?
We provide cardboard containers to pick into, and to take your berries home. Wear your sunscreen. Bring water and a hat. We recommend sensible shoes.
What do I do once I’ve finished picking?
Bring your CASH or CHECKBOOK to the field with you. Once you’re done picking, go to the table at one end of the berry field to pay. There will probably be a truck near the table.
Lightning and tornados
It is OK to continue picking if it rains, but everyone must get out of the fields if there is lightning. You can take shelter in your cars, or in the open shed attached to the big barn. It is at the end of the barn furthest from the road and the doors will be open. We do not have shelter from tornados and you will have to use your own judgment.
Can I bring food to the fields?
No. For food safety reasons, we cannot allow food in the field. Strawberries excepted! Feel free to picnic under the shade trees near the road.
Can I bring dogs to the farm?
No.
Am I going to love the berries?
Yes!
What other u-picks will you offer?
– We expect to offer certified organic plum tomato u-picks in late summer/early fall.
– We will also offer u-pick flower bouquets, plus pre-picked garlic and basil, as long as supplies last.
– We wll do our best to offer a tomato u-pick on the Labor Day weekend. That’s a popular weekend for people who like to preserve their own tomato sauce. But, of course, we will offer picking when the tomatoes are ready!
– Join our email list for notification of picking dates.
